LTC (Leadership Training for Christ) is a ministry for 3rd – 12th grade children of our church. We participate with 60+ other congregations from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Texas in the Great Plains Leadership Training for Christ Convention held each year on Easter weekend. This year, the convention will be held at the John Q. Hammons Center in Norman, OK.
LTC provides training both in deep scriptural study and application from 10 different parts of the Bible, including: the Creation, the life of Moses, David’s kingship, the life of Jesus, the beginning of the Apostle’s ministry and John’s Revelation.
Bible Bowl is an extensive study of scripture adapted appropriately for younger and older children culminating in a quiz at the LTC convention. Classes are taught in a fun and engaging way, teaching children how study, memorize and recall scripture. Students will learn topics, quotes, facts, characters and subheadings in a way that will train them how to deeply study and love scripture. Although challenging, many of our children successfully complete Bible Bowl with support from their families. The quiz at the convention is competitive with medals awarded based on performance. The Bentonville church of Christ also awards the Bible Bowl Cross based on involvement and engagement in class.
Special Events are the application of scripture in the form of Drama, Puppets, Chorus, Artwork and many other individual events at the LTC convention. Team events are coached while many individual events are parent supported. These events are then scored at the convention with medals awarded based on performance.
The LTC ministry is only possible with amazing volunteer graders, teachers, coaches and helpers from September through April each year supporting our LTC children. This ministry is above and beyond any classes or events these kids are involved in, and for many of our members is an entire family event. This congregation has a long history of participating in Bible Bowl and began participating in LTC over 20 years ago.
